Snake Song is Magic

We started our little shop in early 2021, dreaming of creating a space that felt like an experience. Something comforting and inspiring, highlighting the beauty of our Appalachian region, bringing nature indoors. Our goal was to grow, craft, create, and support fellow artisans in our community through this space, emphasizing self-care and gratitude. Our focus is a mixture of cut flower farming and design, indoor plants and herbal products, however our shop is also home to a wide range of specialty bone crafts, crystals, jewelry, artwork and locally made soaps. We take pride in curating not only the items here but the experience our customers take home as well.

Thank you for being a part of that magic.

The Farm

Our little flower farm sits South of Sylva, NC on the side of Wolf Knob Mountain.  We run this 6 acre micro-farm with no-till, hands on methods, growing a large variety of annual and perennial florals to support our shop and the lovely mountain community we call home.

Meet the Team

  • A woman with blonde wavy hair, wearing sunglasses on her head, a sleeveless beige graphic tank top, ripped blue jeans, and dark sandals, stands inside a rustic, flower shop-style store with various plants and flowers around her.

    Megan Thurman

    FOUNDER

Lead floral designer for the shop, Megan also is a painter, crafter and adventure enthusiast. After many years of using traditional art mediums, she’s found a love of using flowers to make bouquets, installations and using dried florals to craft in various ways. A strong connection with nature, she strives to use materials that are found ethically and locally, most grown on the farm she calls home. She finds comfort in the woods through biking, hiking and cooling off in the river.

  • A woman with short curly hair wearing a black T-shirt with a graphic design and long earrings standing in a room with green walls and wooden furniture, surrounded by various plants and flowers.

    Jacque Laura-Large

    FOUNDER

Jacque is our herbalist, our resident house plant lover & curator as well as a bone, flower & nature crafter. She lives on a beautiful hill in the country with a menagerie of oddities, plants and animals (including her husband). The best days to Jacque are ones out playing in the water...any water! Or junking through the country. Southern night campfires with air of the aroma of honeysuckles and sky full of fireflies twinkling. And most of all taking a trip...to anywhere!

  • A man with long brown hair and a beard standing in a store with wooden shelves, wearing a blue t-shirt that says ''Bailey Mountain Gravity Park''.

    Bryan Thurman

    FOUNDER

Not only the lead farmer for Snake Song, Bryan is a certified mushroom forager and lover of all things outdoors. In addition to growing flowers for the shop and veggies for their homestead, you can find him deep in the woods mountain biking, floating the local rivers or playing folk music with his wife and bandmate. He is passionate about organic, low-till methods and a hands-on ethical approach to working the land.
